American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship USA, 2023/2024

Founded in 1893, the American University is a private institution that has eight schools and colleges located in Washington, D.C. With 72 bachelor’s degrees, 86 master’s degrees, and 11 doctoral degrees, as well as JD, LLM, and SJD programs, the American University Students are the most politically active in the nation.

The American University offers the Emerging Global Leader Scholarship to outstanding students from all over the world who want to continue their Bachelor’s Degree in the US.

Scholarship Benefits:

The Scholarship covers:

  • All billable University costs: full tuition, room and board.

Mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses are not covered by the scholarship.

The scholarship is renewable based on continued excellent academic performance.

Requirements: 

In order to be accepted, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants should not be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or dual citizens of the U.S. and another country.
  • International students with underprivileged global and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Students who have defeat different obstruction and difficulties.
  • A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent for 9th-12th grades.
  • A proven dedication to management and leadership, volunteerism, community service and to contribute to meeting people’s needs in their home country.
  • Students who are currently registered in secondary/high school and graduating by June 2023.

The following applicants are NOT considered for the scholarship:

  • A U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country.
  • Already registered or started any post-secondary program at a different university in their home country or the United States.
  • Graduated secondary school earlier than 2021.

How to apply:

In order to apply to the American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship, applicants should submit their AU EGLS application, Common or Coalition Application, and international admissions process by 15 December 2022 or by 15 January 2023 at the latest. The American University Emerging Global Leader applicants must apply Regular Decision for fall (August) 2023.

English requirements: 

The following English language proficiency test scores are required:

  • 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores must be 20 or above);
  • sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2017);
  • 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above);
  • 33 minimum SAT Reading Subscore;
  • 29 minimum ACT English; 65 minimum PTE;
  • 120+ Duolingo (all subscores must be 110 or above);
  • or Cambridge Assessment English score of 185 or higher. Each sub-score must be 169 or higher.
