Scholarship Description:

RTP stands for the research training program. It is a scholarship program under Australian universities. It was first called the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) and was later changed to the Research Training Program (RTP) in 2017.

This opportunity offers block grant funding on a yearly basis to higher education providers in order to help national and international students pursue their studies in an Australian university.

More about the scholarship:

An RTP Scholarship winner will be awarded the following depending on the university under the program:

  • Covers the tuition fees for a research-level that the student would have paid instead. The tuition fees are not paid as a stipend, and the university is responsible for this expense.
  • A salary to help the students cope with additional living costs.
  • RTP gives out Allowances to assist students with additional expenses of a higher degree by research for example relocation costs, health insurance cost…etc.

These scholarships are available for a maximum of two years masters research OR a minimum of three years, up to a maximum of four years (depending on HEP) for a research doctorate degree.

Merit criteria:

To be qualified for a Stipend, a fee offset, or an allowance the applicant should either be a national or international student enrolled in an HDR course that is accredited at a university in Australia.

The applications for admission need to be directly submitted to the university chosen. The application and selection process differ from a university to another.it is favorable to directly contact the university selected to inquire application instructions.

The deadline, as well, varies per university but is approximately from April until October of each year.
