The Brian Chiou and Chiou Family Hope Scholarship provides financial support of up to $2,500 to eligible international students. One to two scholarships will be awarded, and the award amount can be up to $2,500.

Eligibility Requirements:

The Brian Chiou and the Chiou Family’s Hope Initiative Scholarship at Ohio State University is a need-based scholarship for international students in active F-1 or J-1 status. The eligibility requirements for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Active F-1 or J-1 status: Applicants must be international students currently holding active F-1 or J-1 visas
  • Preference for students with knowledge of or interest in Taiwanese culture: Although not mandatory, preference will be given to students who possess knowledge of or exhibit an interest in Taiwanese culture
  • Personal statement: Applicants must submit a personal statement (not exceeding 300 words) to Devan Gibson at gibson.734@osu.edu
  • The personal statement should demonstrate the applicant’s eligibility for the scholarship and how they intend to use the funds, as well as any other relevant information, such as the applicant’s interest in Taiwanese culture
  • Financial need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need to complete their current degree and have a minimum cumulative GPA
  • Limit on grant awards: There is a limit of one grant award per degree level for the Office of International Affairs (OIA) partial tuition grants
  • Never received an OIA grant before: Applicants must have never received an OIA grant before at their current degree level for the OIA partial tuition grants
