About The Scholarship:  

The Psychology Doctoral Research Studentship is available for all Researcher’s and Post-graduate Students in the field of Psychology at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. 

An allowance for three years linked to UKRI scholarship levels, currently £15,609 annually, will be provided by the University of Sussex to support subsistence expenses. International registration expenses and research or training fees will be included as well.

Students are also required to engage in PhD mentoring for their 6 semesters and 3 years of support. This is compensated at grade 5.1, or £13.88 an hour, and will encompass time spent in the field, as well as covering contact time, preparing and grading. Candidates will be required to complete about 165 hours of work annually, according to the selected units and their own flexibility.

Eligibility Criteria: 

Applicants are required to hold, or anticipate receiving, an undergraduate degree with high honors or a similar qualification, and or a master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or other closely associated subject. 

How To Apply: 

Candidates are required to be admitted into the university’s doctoral program. Once they have been admitted, they may apply online for the Ph.D. in Psychology. 

The following documents are requested from the university: A personal statement, Professional background, a reference letter, Language proficiency, Educational records, and Program specific conditions. 

Admission Requirements: 

A proposal describing the research field, assumptions that might be pursued in the doctoral research, and an overview of prospective approaches. The proposal is expected to be around 1,000-1,500 words and no more than 3 pages in length, with references. The research presentation is required to be written in at least 10-point font, with at least 1 cm margins.

  • A written statement that includes a description of the applicant’s previous teaching experience and their qualifications to serve as a PhD supervisor.
